A Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery, equipment, and building systems to ensure smooth operations. They perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment. Maintenance Technicians work with various mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, ensuring safety standards are met and operational efficiency is maintained.
What You Will Do
- Troubleshoot, maintain, & repair various pieces of equipment to minimize downtime
- Complete and assist with projects including welding, minor construction, fence building, dirt work, minor plumbing, minor electrical work, etc.
- Accommodate user needs and maximize office space; reconfigure, install, position, and remount modular offices and space such as furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, etc.
- Escort outside contractors and vendors on site.
- Operate heavy equipment to complete construction and maintenance projects.
- Carry out general facilities and grounds maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Handle minimal hazardous material.
- Ensure that all areas worked in are clean and free of debris.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management, which may not be listed above, that are necessary to accomplish our goal of improving lives by supporting scientific discovery.
Who You Are & What You Bring
Educational and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Vocations training or certifications in mechanical, electrical, or HVAC a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment utilized in day-to-day work.
- Must be a problem solver willing to adapt to various issues that arise.
- Skilled in operating heavy equipment such as backhoe, tractor, etc.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety.
- Basic computer skills.
