Responsibilities
Manufacturing Process Optimization: Implement and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and output. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and high-quality production. Identify and implement lean manufacturing principles to minimize waste and enhance productivity.
Inventory and Supply Chain Management: Manage and control inventory levels to minimize costs. Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure a reliable and efficient supply chain. Monitor and forecast demand to maintain adequate inventory levels while minimizing excess.
Cost Control: Identify cost-saving opportunities within the manufacturing and logistics functions. Analyze expenses and budgetary requirements to maintain cost-effective operations. Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers and service providers.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight: Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and regulations. Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Team Leadership and Development: Lead a team of production and logistics staff, providing guidance and support. Establish performance metrics and KPIs to measure team and departmental performance. Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the manufacturing and logistics teams.
People Management: Leading by example in terms of rigor and discipline. Close management of production through presence on the shop floor and daily management of the supervisors. Coach supervisors in how to perform their role, support and help to solve problems. Coordinate activities of support functions. Define the Operations strategy in term of polyvalence and poly-competence. Ensure recognition upon individual performance: propose promotion and merit increase; take part of the decision process.
Health, Safety, and Environment: Ensure full respect of HSE rules and regulations. Drive HSE process; improvement of working conditions and ergonomics within Operations. Support commitments established in the Environmental Policy. Support environmental programs to achieve objectives and targets.
- Follow production plans, as well as group standard processes; assure feasibility of production plans. Commits to targets agreed during PIC/PDP process.
- Define for each supervisor, QCDP targets: ppm, pph, TRS, absenteeism, number of accidents and improvement ideas.
- Adapt headcount to volume and optimize equipment usage.
- Optimize UAP lay-out and material flow.
- Drive improvement ideas process.
- Prepare Operations Budget: Manage the actual production costs based on "ideal" costs, maintain product margin, and monitor serial productivity. Variable margin: direct labor efficiency and productivity/ material cost consumption/ scrap and rework reduction. Fixed cost: indirect labor/ manufacturing costs/ inventory variances.
- Direct Labor Cost Management: Ensure routing and coefficient data management methodology is correctly applied and respected, for direct standard and actual labor cost accuracy. Contribute to budget construction by assuring the total direct labor cost breakdown is based on DLE, DLP, and productivity plan. Ensure DLE/DLP tracking process linked with the direct labor cost percentage results. Contribute to direct labor cost gap to budget analysis and reaction plan.
- Support Standard Work construction and adherence.
- Support the implementation of MSES (Motherson SES Excellence System) improvement tools for production reliability, change over standards (flexibility), reduction of line stoppages, line balancing, and overall labor efficiency.
- Serve as plant representative to the customer. Meet established customer specifications concerning cycle time, delivery, quality, quantity and costs. Implement preventative and corrective measures in the production process to assure that customer demands are properly met. Coordinate with client's quality team to meet all customer standards.
- Participate in the creation of Production System Efficiency (PSE) projects.
- Coordinate resource planning with Industrial Engineering department concerning stocks, equipment, staffing, and activities.
- Maintain dashboard indicators/status reports to monitor lead time, supply-chain targets, and HSE performance.
