CLA has an immediate need for an experienced pre-litigation paralegal for a well-established law firm located in Myrtle Beach, SC. The pre-litigation paralegal will be responsible for communicating with clients, requesting medical records, preparing draft demands, and drafting complaints. Prior experience in a plaintiff’s firm is preferred.
Sample Responsibilities:
- Collecting and organizing evidence for disclosures and trial exhibits
- Drafting & filing disclosures & pleadings
- Drafting demand letters
- Answer basic questions from the clients or pass on legal questions to a firm attorney
- Review, organize, and summarize case materials.
- Conduct legal research and investigations as needed and directed.
- Ensure proper documents are obtained and entered into case management software
- Ordering medical records
- Scheduling attorney meetings with witnesses, experts, and clients
- Maintaining attorneys' calendars to meet deadlines
- Redacting and summarizing medical records and trial exhibits
- Researching litigation opponents
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required
- Paralegal certificate preferred, but not required
- Experience as a Pre-litigation or Litigation Paralegal in a plaintiff's personal injury firm
- Comfortable learning new technologies and software
- Excellent reading, writing, and people skills
- Attention to detail
- Empathy for personal injury victims
- Client- and Team-oriented
- Able to have frequent and effective interactions with clients, medical providers, and insurance companies
