Plattsburgh, NY: We seek TWO confident PSYCHIATRISTS to join the expanding mental health service of a progressive 300-bed community hospital on a plush 45-acre campus, complete with ponds and walking paths. Come to this welcoming community on scenic Lake Champlain, across from Burlington, Vermont, where compassionate healthcare providers take pride in caring for friends and neighbors.Your role will be to provide primarily inpatient (along with outpatient, emergency, and consultative) psychiatry services with a medical center where 160+ physicians serve 170,000 area residents. In addition to hosting a Family Medicine Residency Program, Emergency Medicine residents and medical students complete clinical rotations here.The new Psychiatrists will be hired in collaboration with the University of Vermont. You will have a faculty posting with their College of Medicine as an Assistant or Associate Professor on the clinical scholar pathway. They need both Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychiatrists. Subspecialty training in child/adolescent, and/or experience in inpatient, outpatient, and academic settings, is ideal.Inpatient psychiatry facilities here include an 18-bed Adult Unit and a 12-bed Child/Adolescent Unit. Care is delivered with a multidisciplinary approach. This medical center sees around 50,000 emergency room visits annually. The University of Vermont Medical Center, a level I trauma center, is just 1 hour away. The incoming Psychiatrists will be part of a new division in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Vermont, whose Psychiatry unit is known internationally as a center of excellence for innovative family-based empirical assessment and treatment. Plattsburgh is an excellent place to teach or learn all much bigger than what you might expect in a rural area.You will have an interesting role that combines direct patient care with, potentially, supervision and teaching of child psychiatry fellows, residents, and medical students, as part of an innovative model that emphasizes the importance of collaboration. Call is shared across a large team, so your share is just 1 weeknight/month and 3-4 weekends/year.
