Deloitte is recruiting staff for our GPS international energy programs. These programs focus on expanding the supply of clean, affordable electricity, advanced energy technologies, and associated policy and technology at the national, regional, and local levels. Other objectives include:
Support government agencies to develop and implement energy transition strategies to meet their emissions reduction commitments.
Improve the technical and institutional capacity and performance of domestic and international utilities and power sector entities as they seek to build a more clean and resilient power grid.
Expand energy efficiency programs and technologies.
Support policy and regulatory effort that will accelerate the above interventions.
To support these programs, Deloitte is recruiting a full-time independent consultant to serve as a Geologist to support a variety of activities to achieve the above objectives.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or other relevant field.
10+ years’ work experience as a Mining or Process Engineer, with experience in mine planning, design, and operations, as well as mineral processing.
Familiarity with sustainable mining practices and technologies, environmental regulations and compliance, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for mining projects.
Experience providing expert advice to government entities and industry regarding mine development and management.
Demonstrated ability to succeed in an interdisciplinary work environment, and to work in challenging operational environments requiring good judgment, discretion, and political savvy with strong interpersonal skills.
Strong technical writing and written and verbal communication and skills.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to write, communicate, and prepare engagement materials fluently in English.
Preferred
Previous work leading teams in developing country environments, including delivering presentations and conducting technical activities
Experience providing expert advice to government entities regarding compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Experience working in multiple countries with a diverse set of geological and political conditions.
Strong knowledge of mining software and tools (e.g., Surpac, MineSight, Vulcan, etc.)
Professional Engineer license or equivalent certification.
