Our Client is seeking a Network Administrator that is responsible for the Industrial Control System network infrastructure and associated applications that support our plant and field control systems.
Responsible for configuring, maintaining, patching, administering and troubleshooting network switches, routers, media converters, cabling systems. Other essential activities include network planning, procurement, and management of network infrastructure related costs. Under direction, the Network Administrator analyzes, plans, manages, coordinates, maintains, and reviews the network infrastructure to ensure the integrity and reliability. Additional responsibilities may include complex implementation projects and training or reviewing the work of lower levels in the career family. This position is on-call 7x24x365 as needed to respond to service-impacting conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Plans, designs, implements, and administers the network and related support systems.
- Creates and maintains technical documentation to include technical specifications, system or network drawings, scopes of work, user procedures and processes, and user training materials.
- Administers network systems such as routers, switches, network logging, change control, and network alert mechanisms.
- Administers and utilizes software related to configuration of network devices, hardware, and firmware, and reviews/administers appropriate upgrades, patches, etc. and maintains corresponding documentation.
- Assists in establishing and implementing short and long-term goals related to dept. technology, providing recommendation and cost estimates regarding upgrades.
- Reviews all proposed upgrades and designs of system components for applicability and compatibility with existing systems and standards.
- Manages the security, maintenance, repair, and improvement of the telemetry and inter-plant communication systems for Technology to ensure reliability and security; directs the installation, configuration, and modification of new and upgraded software and hardware for the environment; manages the development and application of new technologies to achieve higher reliability and resiliency.
- Adheres to IT Department standards and processes, where practicable, when installing and configuring network devices and software solutions.
- Develops data communications strategies for dept. provides cost, reliability, and security impact metrics for all available communication mediums.
- Creates, maintains and executes procedures to collect, monitor, and assess performance data as part of a preventive maintenance program.
- Acts as liaison between the Department and Maintenance and Technology in matters related to networks. Works with I&T to ensure compliance with standards and represents dept. needs.
- Assists in developing and administering the fiscal year budget pertaining to Network operations.
- Develops and oversees all disaster recovery aspects for all elements of networks.
- Reviews plans and specifications for all new facilities that include network equipment to ensure proper design and installation criteria are met.
- Analyzes, extracts, combines, interprets, and summarizes data from various sources to generate analytical reports in tabular and/or graphical form for operational, management, or executive network related decisions.
- Maintains expertise in standard hardware and software products and awareness of current advances in technology as they relate to the client.
- May exercise technical and functional supervision over lower level in the career family.
- Performs other related duties that may be reasonably expected as part of this classification.
- Monitors and responds to any network issues. Resolves trouble tickets, responds to alerts for switches and replaces failed devices.
- Implements and manages monitoring and alerting solutions for networks.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma & 7 years of experience OR Associate degree & 5 years of experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree & 3 years of experience OR Any equivalent combination of education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Intermediate to expert with 802.1q VLANs and routing tables
- Experience building, testing and troubleshooting fiber optic networks
- Hands on experience in layer-3 protocols
- WAN connectivity such as Metro Ethernet
