Procurement Category Manager
The Procurement Category Manager is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, contract negotiations, price validation, cost savings, supply risk management and vendor relationships
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for strategically and confidently negotiating material purchasing categories as assigned.
- Responsible for security of supply and sourcing supply alternatives or for dual supply initiatives.
- Evaluate material supply requirements and risk in support of all new business processes.
- Collaborate with internal partners, customers, and vendors providing value streams and support.
- Facilitate material supply agreements with vendors.
- Establish and execute a strategic sourcing calendar for assigned categories.
- Establish and lead a supplier relationship management (SRM) program with key suppliers.
- Responsible for monitoring, tracking, and communicating commodity cost trends.
- Lead, track, and report cost savings initiatives as well as material qualification projects.
- Responsible for all contract/floor stock obligations and commodity risk management where applicable.
- Assist with solutions to inventory management constraints and strategies where applicable.
- Approve price changes and establish communication including an SAP update process with tactical team.
- Develop annual material budget for assigned categories and provide quarterly updates.
- Process PO discrepancies for payment with assist from tactical procurement on a timely basis.
- Approve POs over Plant Procurement authorization level in SAP for assigned categories.
- Establish process for audit of purchasing settings in SAP and provide setting updates as needed to align with optimal purchases that reflect all vendor requirements and contract terms.
- Meet forecast requirements by vendor for supply continuity, analyzed with both planning and history.
- Must maintain updated knowledge of industry technology and market trends and indices.
- Responsible for implementing and following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
- Performs other duties as assigned. Some travel required.
- EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- A four-year college degree or equivalent supply chain experience.
- 4-7 Years Purchasing Category Management or Supply Chain/Procurement Management experience.
- Deep market knowledge and strategic market experience in the food industry preferred.
- Competency working in SAP ERP with knowledge of MRP and other material management techniques.
- Strong communication, organizational, spreadsheet, mathematical, and analytical skills
