Role Description
As a Field Applications Scientist, you’ll be introducing new enabling technology in the spatial biology and proteomics space. The field sales-based position is responsible for pre and post-sales training and support of the Syncell Microscoop Platform and consumables. In this role, you’ll be the interface between sales and applications, playing a key part in helping customers to understand the fundamentals and the potential of our technology to address their scientific questions. We’re looking for someone who embraces curiosity and loves to inspire prospective customers! Our successful candidate will be skilled in addressing pre-sales technical questions, understand customer applications and help determine and communicate why our technology is a good fit. Territory includes western North America – this is a field-based role with preference given to candidates residing in the greater California bay area.
What You’ll Do:
· Develop expert-level knowledge of Syncell’s Microscoop technology, including sample preparation techniques, instrumentation, software, network communications, and full integration of the overall platform
· Develop expert-level knowledge of preparing tissue samples with Syncell’s reagents and chemistry and how they impact the performance of the platform
· On-board, train, and support new customers to ensure protocols are understood and followed properly
· Work collaboratively with your field sales counterpart to achieve revenue targets.
· Help to develop territory sales and business development plans, including identification of KOL’s and other key potential customers.
· Support customers in their data workflow to ensure high-quality results are generated efficiently in a broad range of applications
· Provide technical guidance to customers on experimental design for single-cell spatial analysis
· Document customer issues, investigate underlying causes, and work closely with the Syncell support and R&D teams to implement solutions
· Closely collaborate with the sales team in identifying new customer and market opportunities
· Collect feedback from current customers and communicate to product teams and management to help guide product development
· Help to qualify and develop opportunities by understanding and assessing needs/goals of prospective customers. Provide customized pre-sales consultations and presentations.
· Throughout the sales process, be a consultant to convey appropriate product and performance expectations to the customer, while helping to guide the sales process toward success.
· Work collaboratively with other applications colleagues to support customer training and post-sales support.
· Deliver effective product/applications presentations, workshops, and seminars.
· Be engaged and excited about how our technology can help our customers.
· Have a keen focus on customer support and customer success so that our customers are our best advocates.
What You’ll Need:
- Understanding of the spatial & proteomics technologies, and research areas of our customers.
- Very effective communication skills, with an ability to convey complex topics in a relatable format.
- Ability to travel (up to 50%) to customer sites as needed for in-person meetings and events.
- PhD in life sciences.
- 5+ years lab experience in proteomics, microscopy, and/or mass spec.
- Commercial experience as a field application scientist and a strong background in tissue based workflows
· Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse personalities both inside and outside the company

The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $150,000. This role is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
