The CMDB Analyst is responsible for supporting the IT configuration management database of configuration items using methods based on the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices. Ensures discovery processes and tools relied upon to populate the database are running as expected and populating the CMDB properly.
Responsibilities
• Supports the CMDB Manager in maintaining and maturing the CMDB in line with ITIL best practices and the ServiceNow Common Services Data Model (CSDM).
• Supports the ServiceNow Discovery process and related schedules along with the ServiceNow Agent Client Collector to ensure the CMDB in support of having a healthy and accurate CMDB.
• Maintains the health of other CMDB data integrations as needed.
• Works collaborative and synergistically with others.
• Performs audits of the CMDB to maintain accuracy of the information.
• Improves processes and procedures that accurately track and manage the lifecycle of configuration items.
• Monitors CMDB reporting and resolves technical and compliance issues as they are identified.
• Proactively identify opportunities for improvement to the CMDB and related processes.
• To ensure standards and guidelines are applied and maintained across the application platforms for administration, deployment, and monitoring over a range of technical platforms that largely comprise industry standard components. This includes applications and databases.
• Experiences within the banking environment, financial services institutions, or investment companies, etc.
• Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
• Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve Technology Services departmental and company goals.
• Provide leadership to others through examples and sharing of knowledge, skills, and workload.
Knowledge/Skills
• ITIL Service Management practices with a concentration on CMDB Management and Asset Management.
• ServiceNow Development and\or Administration
• Strong understanding of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model to troubleshoot IP based discovery scans.
• Understanding additional use cases for CMDB data such as asset, vulnerability, capacity, portfolio, event, and financial management.
• Working knowledge and understanding of database schemas, relationships, field mappings, and data types used to effectively automate integrations, reporting, and dashboards.
• Application architecture methodologies and standards. Principles of banking and finance industry operations.
• Ability to build positive relationships across multiple stakeholders, senior leadership team, and department heads, etc.
• Communicates with positive impact: excellent leadership, business partnership, negotiation, etc.
• Poise and ability to act calmly and competently in high-pressure, high-stress situations.
• Perform all departmental administrative activities, including staff meetings, attendance, monthly status reporting, budgeting, strategic planning, expense processing, documentation, and other activities, as assigned, in a timely manner
Experience-
• Required: High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 1 - 2 years direct experience with IT Configuration Database Management
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field is required, as is 3-5 years direct experience in IT Configuration Database Management.
• Preferred: ITIL 4 Foundations, ServiceNow Certified System Administrator.
