Kjar, McKenna and Stockalper, LLP are looking for Post Bar Law Clerks who have just taken the July 2024 California State Bar, and are interested in joining a law firm of high energy, litigation attorneys who are dedicated to their practice of law. The applicant will work closely with a great team of attorneys and staff on cases from start to finish. We are looking for candidates who have an interest in starting their legal career in insurance defence. We specialize in medical malpractice, employment law, legal malpractice and municipal liability defense.
Responsibilities
- Effectively compose various legal documents including but not limited to pleadings, discovery, subpoenas and draft correspondence.
- Review and summarize records.
- Act as a liaison with experts and witnesses in scheduling/coordinating appearances and/or depositions along with documentation retrieval.
- Summarize discovery responses and draft standard discovery motions.
- Conduct preliminary legal research as necessary.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions and trials.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Superior written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with court personnel, attorneys and their staff, clients, and witnesses.
- Proficient in MS Word, MS Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage time and multitask effectively; display problem solving skills by developing methods or approaches to getting the work done.
- Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems) and spreadsheets.
- Currently have taken and awaiting results of the California Bar exam.
The ideal candidate has strong written and oral communication skills, is detail oriented, and will be able to effectively collaborate with fellow KMS attorneys in the defense of their clients.
