Job Overview: ECM is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join its growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience with operating and maintaining various machines to fabricate precision parts.
Under minimal supervision and following established procedures, this role will CAM, fixture, setup, machine and inspect prototype parts to drawing specifications. Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills to produce precision parts
- Configure machines and cutting tools to exact measurements that will produce parts in compliance with engineering designs
- Monitor machine operations to ensure proper functioning and achievement of specifications
- Inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery as necessary
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to improve production processes
- Ability to develop and prove out new CNC machining programs to produce complex components in accordance with engineering designs
- Ability to develop and prove out new procedures and improve existing processes for complex components
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proficiency in operating CNC machines
- Experience with Solidworks, HSMworks, and Fusion 360 preferred
- Highly detail oriented with the ability to keep a clean and organized workspace
- Ability to accurately use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, indicators etc.
- Advanced knowledge of speed and feed calculations for different materials, operations, geometry, and tolerances
- Advanced knowledge of proper tooling selection
- Familiarity and experience with precision measuring tools
- Experience machining and qualifying parts with tolerances as tight as +-0.0001”
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of power tools
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
- Good mechanical aptitude required
- Visual acuity needed for close detail work, inspection, operating tools and machinery, using measurement devices and visual inspection involving small defects and parts
