Job Summary
As a VoIP Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of VoIP solutions, with a strong focus on Avaya, Cisco VoIP, and Microsoft Teams telephony. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration, reliability, and optimal performance of voice communication systems across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Design, configure, and deploy VoIP solutions using Avaya, Cisco VoIP, and Microsoft Teams telephony platforms.
- Perform system integration, testing, and troubleshooting of VoIP networks and telephony infrastructure.
- Monitor and maintain the performance, security, and availability of VoIP systems to ensure high-quality voice communication.
- Collaborate with IT and network teams to optimize and integrate VoIP solutions with existing infrastructure and applications.
- Develop and implement VoIP network policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance system efficiency and security.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT staff for VoIP-related issues.
- Conduct regular maintenance, upgrades, and patching of VoIP systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Participate in the planning and execution of VoIP-related projects, including migrations, expansions, and upgrades.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to VoIP and telephony systems.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a VoIP Engineer or in a similar role with a focus on Avaya, Cisco VoIP, and Microsoft Teams telephony.
- Strong understanding of VoIP protocols (SIP, H.323, RTP, etc.) and networking fundamentals.
- Experience in designing, configuring, and managing Avaya and Cisco VoIP systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Teams telephony, including Direct Routing and integration with other telephony systems.
- Knowledge of IP networking, including LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, and QoS.
- Experience with VoIP monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as Avaya Certified Specialist, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) - Collaboration, or Microsoft Certified: Teams Voice Engineer Expert.
- Experience with other VoIP systems and technologies (e.g., Mitel, Asterisk, etc.).
- Familiarity with unified communications, video conferencing, and contact center solutions.
