The Railroad Construction Foreman is responsible for ensuring smooth operations at construction sites. This role involves serving as the primary point of contact between laborers and the superintendent, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and safely.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee and enforce safety rules at all times on-site.
- Develop work schedules based on employee availability, contractor needs, and labor laws, and monitor personnel accordingly.
- Regularly report project status to superiors, site engineers, and officials.
- Act as the liaison between track laborers and superintendents.
- Quickly and amicably resolve conflicts or miscommunications that arise on-site.
- Delegate responsibilities and projects to crew members and contractors effectively.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Previous experience in railroad construction required
- Knowledge of local quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction job sites.
- A positive attitude and the ability to motivate team members on-site.
- In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes.
- Familiarity with the use and maintenance of electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
- High level of accountability and integrity, as role decisions impact others significantly.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and various elements.
- Ability to recognize, avoid, and report potential hazards.
- Must pass all required assessments and trainings.
- Flexibility to travel to various job sites, including those requiring overnight stays and short-notice mobilization.
- Availability for full-time work (40 hours/week), including potential overtime, on-call (24/7), alternating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.

- High school diploma or certification in a skilled trade is a plus.
- Fluency in English is required; Spanish is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
