The Role:
Our site in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join our team. Our site manufactures Micro contamination Control (MC) membrane products such as ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UPE) membrane and other membrane products for Semi-conductor and Life Science industries. As part of Manufacturing Operations team, you will be a leading contributor in our efforts to start up a new membrane operations plant. As part of this effort, you will drive the commissioning and qualifying of both processes and equipment for use in high volume production. We need someone who can own process development after the equipment is qualified. After qualification, this individual would be the primary process engineer for one or more of the key processes and work closely with the production team to drive initiatives to improve overall efficiency, and ensure quality and safety are built into processes at every step.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead efforts to guide the install and commissioning of new production scale equipment, following typical IQ/OQ protocols.
- Develop and qualify membrane processes on new equipment to meet Key Performance Output Variables (KPOV) targets.
- Successful Validation and Qualification (V&Q) execution of transfer and startup of membrane products.
- Design and execute experiments, utilize statistical tools to analyze experimental data to drive development and optimize processes.
- Drive readiness of a new membrane manufacturing line. Work with Operations, Quality, Automation, New Product Introduction teams to ensure all requirements are met.
- Work with Engineers, EH&S, Maintenance and Reliability, membrane R&D personnel, Procurement, and Operations to define PM programs (including spares inventories, frequency, and timing, etc) for new assets including support of new product design, process development, equipment validations, and process validations.
- Develop and drive new solutions to existing membrane/device manufacturing challenges such as improving yield, increasing capacity, and minimizing variation.
- Provide documentation support such as creating/maintaining drawings, SOPs, test procedures, test data.
- Support release of new products or technology through a stage-gate release process.
- Be a hands-on Engineer to go out on the production floor and learn the process to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
- Responsible to guide technical evaluations, analysis, and implement process solutions to complex problems, enhancing our fully data-driven and risk-based thinking culture.
- Develop, collaborate, lead and implement projects which improve operational efficiency such as First Pass Yield (FPY) improvements, on-time delivery, productivity, scrap reduction, etc.
- Individual will be required to spend few weeks at Bedford, MA site as a part of onboarding process to gain process knowledge to be a successful in this role for new Colorado Springs Manufacturing facility.
- Ability to prioritize short term needs of day-to-day production environment along with long term deliverables and timelines.
- Work both independently and on a team. Lead with influence across multi-disciplinary team and take on assignments with broad objectives where guidance is provided on critical issues only.
- Require providing work guidance and mentorship to junior Process Engineers and others.
Traits we believe make a strong candidate:
- B.S or M.S. in Chemical/Materials/Polymer engineering or related technical discipline
- Experience in membrane manufacturing, polymer twin-screw extrusion, web handling or thin film processing or non-woven manufacturing processes.
- Minimum of 6 - 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a significant amount of that time successfully leading processes and / or continuous improvement related initiatives.
- Must have both strong hands-on experience and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Proven Project Management skills and experience.
- Experience using IQ/ OQ/ PQ protocols.
- Experience in lean manufacturing and/or six sigma certifications.
- Ability to adapt changing responsibilities quickly based on business needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to be a strong contributor to a cross-functional development team.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have some flexibility in work schedule during initial start-up to meet the demands of project schedule. After plant start-up is complete, expect schedule to return to normal business hours.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Statistical Process Control, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Validation & Qualification processes.
- A collaborative leader that inspires cross-functional teams, prioritizing and driving for execution.
- Profound experience in statistical data analysis with MINITAB or other statistical software and capable of utilizing data for informed engineering related decision-making.
Outstanding Candidates Will Have:
- Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt Certification preferred.
- Doctoral degree in Chemical/Materials/Polymer Engineering preferred.
- Proven expertise in qualifying new facilities, equipment, processes, or products.
- Extensive background in material testing and metrology preferred.
- Experience with automated Inspection method preferred.

- Salary in the $125,000K-145,000K/year range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role.
