Duties: Manage and maintain assigned cases, ensuring all issues are resolved before each status conference. Responsibilities include obtaining records, coordinating with parties, addressing medical reports and discovery issues, and handling routine correspondence and pleadings.
Essential Functions:
New Case Set-Up:
- Review case history and determine responsible employers.
- Contact applicants to gather information and provide case details.
- Create service lists and locate insurance coverage.
- Order WCIRB and conduct corporate searches.
Application Filing:
- Ensure proper completion and submission of authorizations and applications.
- Prepare and file case documents and serve them to defendants.
Pleadings and Correspondence:
- Prepare and file various petitions and responses.
- Draft letters and requests, and manage communication with clients and defendants.
Obtaining Records:
- Collect records from unions, Social Security, employment, medical sources, and clients.
- Obtain additional necessary documents as needed.
Status Conferences:
- Review past reports, update attorneys, and address pending issues.
- Prepare summaries and follow up with defendants.
Exposure Reviews:
- Analyze deposition transcripts and medical reports.
- Conduct interviews related to exposures and employment.
Reports:
- Prepare and submit monthly case status reports and review pending reports.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent experience.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is required.
- Strong communication skills for interaction with attorneys, doctors, and clients.
- Minimum typing speed of 35 WPM; proficiency in Word, Excel, and database applications.
- Attention to detail, ability to multitask, and work under tight deadlines.
