Engineer II, Manufacturing - Ramsey
Position Summary:
At MMT - Glebar, our objective is to develop excellence in automation, machine design, material handling, and custom tooling. The Manufacturing Engineer role will bridge between engineering and the production floor, providing support and leadership on processes, production methods, Safety, quality, and Lean Manufacturing in a high mix/low volume custom environment.
Essential Functions:
Drive Lean Manufacturing using techniques like 6S, Visual Management, and VSM
Works with Engineering Manager as technical expert to deliver business objectives in a timely manner.
Manages projects in conjunction with supply chain and manufacturing.
Define materials and methods of manufacture for new products.
Analyze existing materials and methods of manufacture to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and operational efficiency.
Utilize CAD/CAM for tool path programming for complex custom parts as needed.
Assist in costing of new products by working with the Supply Chain department to identify vendors for required materials
Work closely with design engineers to Design for Manufacturing.
Work closely with Manufacturing and Quality Assurance to ensure product quality
Cross trains other employees as needed
Performs other duties as directed
Position Requirements:
- 4+ years of relevant manufacturing experience required
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent required
- Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD Experience Required. SolidWorks a plus.
- Knowledge and experience with manufacturing processes, materials, product and process design
- Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings with in-depth understanding of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Experience in machine tool manufacturing a plus.
- Experience with machining metal highly desired including experience with castings a plus.
- Knowledge of quality lab inspection equipment such as optical comparator, micrometers, calipers, gage blocks, bore gages etc.
- Understanding of ERP, BOM’s and routers, Epicor a plus
Skills and Abilities:
Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Suite
Self-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, analytical & problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to gain the respect and confidence of other team members
Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively work cross-functionally and externally as required.
Work Environment:
This position works in both an office and shop environment. The employee must be cognizant of hazards, including but not limited to variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, and exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
