Project Overview:
The Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners (WVTCP) Joint Venture consisting of VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Walsh Construction has been selected to construct the $2.9BN Design Build Red Line Extension (RLE) project – the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The RLE Mainline Design-Build (MDB) Project will extend the CTA's Red Line by 5.6 miles, extending from the existing terminal at 95th/Dan Ryan south to 130th Street and Doty Avenue. We are seeking a Document Control Specialist responsible for maintaining the flow of construction documentation throughout the construction process.
Responsibilities:
- Processes submittals and input into Project's Safety System's program.
- Maintains updated Submittal Log, monitors the submittal schedule and status.
- Inputs RFI’s (Requests for Information) into the Project's Safety System's program.
- Receives, logs, and tracks plans and specifications as received including all revisions.
- Distributes plans and specifications to contractor personnel as well as subcontractors.
- Maintains electronic copy files of project documentation.
- Processes and maintains files for change order requests, change orders, contracts, scope changes, and payment applications in an orderly and updated manner.
- Processes and maintains transmittals and associated documents.
- Tracks and files project photos.
- Maintains project FTP site, as needed and applicable.
- Works with superintendents, engineers, and administration as required.
- Works with representatives as required.
- Performs other duties to support engineering department.
- Supports Construction Manager, Superintendents, and Construction Engineers in regard to submittals, RFI’s, drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required
- Minimum High School degree.
- Minimum of 2 Years’ experience in a documentation.
- Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, and written skills.
- Ability to work in multicultural environment.
- Fluent in English with professional proficiency.
- Valid Driver's License.
Preferred
- Experience with construction safety.
- Experience working on Joint Venture (JV) construction projects required.
Work Environment:
- Involves a dynamic and challenging work environment.
- Includes tasks such as maintaining and repairing heavy machinery, ensuring equipment operates efficiently, and adhering to safety protocols in construction sites.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and reflective vests when on-site.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift 25lbs.
- Walking and standing while in-office or on-site.
- Occasional climbing on and off equipment and bending to inspect.
