An International Independent Power Producer that is a developer, owner, operator, and investor of power generation projects throughout North America is looking to bring on a Vice President, Legal to join their growing legal team. The VP, Legal will have the opportunity to join an innovative company that creates new markets by introducing new technologies within the energy space. Responsibilities:
- Manage all legal matters regarding acquisitions, project development, and operations for the companies portfolio of renewable energy projects
- Provide legal advice and guidance to project development teams on a variety of legal matters
- Oversee the drafting and negotiations of key contracts related to project development, including Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts, Power Purchase (PPAs) agreements and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Contracts.
- Provide legal support for M&A activities, including due diligence, negotiation, and execution of acquisition agreements. Advise on legal risks and opportunities associated with potential acquisitions and partnerships.
- Manage outside counsel
Required Qualifications:
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice law in good standing in at least one state
- 6+ years of transactional experience in power generation sectors
- Must have 4+ experience drafting and negotiating engineering, procurement, and construction contracts (EPC contracts)
- Proven experience with M&A transactions
- Ability to work collaboratively with business teams and other legal team members.
