Consulting firm seeking a Forensic Engineer to work out of the Arizona office. Candidate must be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE or SE) with a strong understanding of multiple types of construction methods and building code standards to perform forensic evaluations and make repair recommendations. Evaluations involve construction related defects, structural damage assessments of fire damaged structures, vehicle and tree impacts to structures, earth movement, structural failures, concrete damage and more. Candidate must have understanding or ability to learn to analyze and design structural repairs to buildings comprised of all major building materials including wood frame, steel, masonry and concrete. On-the-job training will be provided based on candidate’s experience.
Candidates must be able to perform calculations using design software such as Enercalc or hand calculations. Candidate must be able to sketch repair details associated with damages identified in the structural damage assessment. Excellent communication, verbal and technical writing skills are required.
Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and transportation to travel to job sites around Arizona during normal business hours. The company will reimburse mileage and equipment related expenses associated with the job. Candidate must be able to climb a ladder to evaluate roof and attic spaces. Candidate must be able to carry up to 40lbs of equipment for short durations of time. Candidate must be able to work on their feet for extended periods and be able to step over and around obstacles on the ground or at elevated surfaces such as attics. Candidate must be able to work outside and in non-air conditioned or heated spaces for periods of time. Candidate must be able to identify safe and unsafe conditions.
