Switchboard Operator/Receptionist
General Description:
The Lee Group is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Switchboard Operator/Receptionist to be the welcoming face of our Newport News office. This role is essential in creating a positive first impression for all applicants, employees, customers, and guests. The ideal candidate will provide general information about open positions, assist current associates with assignment-related questions, and support the Newport News staffing group with interview and hiring processes. This fast-paced and dynamic environment requires strong multitasking abilities and a passion for customer service.
In addition to managing the switchboard operations Monday through Friday, you will play a vital role in ensuring administrative support and maintaining office organization. You will also administer pre-assignment drug testing, guide applicants through the employment paperwork process, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
- Reception & Customer Service: Greet all visitors, including applicants, employees, customers, and guests, with a welcoming smile in the Newport News lobby.
- Employment Documentation: Instruct new hires on completing I-9, W-4, and company policy documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Compliance & Verification: Verify I-9 documentation and complete the employer section of the forms.
- Testing & Training Support: Schedule and administer required tests and training for applicants as directed by the staffing team.
- Drug Testing: Conduct drug tests for associates before assignment and input results into the Avionte system.
- Administrative Assistance: Provide administrative support to the Newport News staffing group, assisting with any tasks necessary to fulfill staffing responsibilities.
- Office Management: Maintain and manage office paperwork, forms, and other front-office duties.
- Switchboard Operations: Operate the main switchboard during business hours, ensuring smooth communication flow across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Previous experience in an administrative or receptionist role is preferred.
- Familiarity with office software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Avionte or similar staffing software is a plus.
