POSITION OVERVIEW
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading the development and improvement of manufacturing processes to achieve production efficiency, quality, safety and cost objectives
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop end-to-end manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, new products, and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost
- Develop visual factory, continuous flow, material handling, tooling and work station design, working in tandem with Chemical Engineering to develop, document and release repeatable, standardized plating/finishing processes
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
- Manage new product introduction activities related to manufacturing, evaluating and developing new tooling required for products that are in development within project schedules and budgets
- Knowledge and application of LEAN Manufacturing and Six Sigma practices to drive continuous improvement in labor costs through waste reduction, efficient layout of manufacturing cells and equipment, work flow, production efficiency, and operations improvement
- Provide engineering support for all released products
- Recommend and implement new manufacturing processes, methods, and technology for plating/finishing of products
- Provide technical support for production personnel in all phases of the manufacturing process and develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees
- Establish assembly routings and labor standard times for new and existing products to perform shop floor capacity planning analysis
- Design/evaluate/order workstations and equipment keeping safety/ergonomics in mind
- Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Participate in corrective actions for quality concerns/complaints and be able to develop temporary and permanent solutions to manufacturing issues
- Perform failure analysis and troubleshooting of defective product coming from production or customers
- Work with production, quality and chemical engineering to define, modify and edit control plan to insure product quality and long-term stability in the manufacturing process
- Estimate labor requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide data for operational decisions
- Provide manufacturing engineering information for quoting process, part activation and various requests
- Support maintenance technicians in troubleshooting equipment issues
- Work directly with production and purchasing team to isolate and resolve quality issues with existing products, processes and procedures.
- Generate accurate engineering documentation (Routings, BOMs, Work Instructions, Visual Aids, shop drawings, etc.) to support the manufacturing process and changes to the products and product specifications. Maintain product and process database
- Validate product design issues related to manufacturability and changes via ECN
- Review 2D and 3D engineering drawings and designs to enable manufacturability and support quality processes in ISO 9001, AS9100 and IATF 16949
- Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations
- Works as an active team member by participating in problem solving, team building, and all other team activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality, etc. of the department
- Assists other team members as required

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar software, Solidworks, and Microsoft Office required
- Reading Comprehension: Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, job travelers, and communications
- Writing Skills: Ability to write English of a level required for Company shop documents, technical procedures, reports, and computer software entry

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
Certifications/Licenses: None
Experience:
Required: 3 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in a high mix/low to high volume environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Physical Requirements: This position requires the employee to stand and walk frequently; lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds; finger and wrist dexterity for repetitive motion
Must be able to stand, twist, lift, pinch, walk, bend, kneel and have hand and wrist dexterity. Required to wear PPE (i.e. face, foot, eye, hand, and/or hearing protection)
Work Environment: While performing duties of the job, the employee will work in an office setting within a metal finishing environment. The employee will be exposed to fumes and vapors, high noise exposure. Exposure to chemicals, cold, heat, humidity, dust, fumes, and noise. We provide a regulated, safe/healthy environment for our employees.
