JOB TITLE: Payroll Specialist
REPORTS TO: Director – Payroll
DEPARTMENT: Payroll
Job Summary:
Organize & carry out daily entry of employee time into payroll system including retro adjustments as needed. Assist as needed with processing of hourly, salary and special payrolls. Prepare special reports for sites and other departments.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Enter time in UKG system and correct any errors before payroll processes are started
- Verify payroll results to ensure all changes are processed accurately
- Print & distribute payroll checks. Submit ACH and Positive Pay bank files
- Coordinate with field personnel if concerns arise relating to pay issues
- Research and resolve issues from managers and employees as related to the processing of payroll information such as PTO, banking, garnishments or other deductions, retroactive pay calculations, tax questions or any other questions
- Coordinate with HR to ensure the integrity of the payroll data including data related to new hires, terminations, transfers, rate changes, etc. and makes any necessary updates
- Process & approve any direct deposit information for employee accounts
- Review & prepare reports for payroll processing SOX audit controls
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability and attention to detail
- Conduct all work activities in compliance with all applicable Federal and State laws and company policies, procedures, rules and regulations
Position Prerequisites/Preferences/Certifications/Qualifications:
- Degree in Business field desired
- Minimum of two years payroll experience
- Knowledge of payroll laws and procedures
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and heavy workload with deadline pressures
- Experience with a major payroll software, UKG experience is a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel & Word
