Summary:
The IT Lead is responsible for the development, coordination, and actions of a team of technicians, analysts, and/or specialists in support of information systems for one or more hospital sites and associated ASC and clinics. The Lead helps oversee the IT department and is responsible for the delivery and support of technology services including maintenance and enhancements of existing systems and collaboration on new systems and processes. The Lead is responsible for meeting end user expectations, maintaining policies and procedures, and supporting the development of the department budget and strategy. This includes proposal and contract assistance, cost/benefit analysis, system analysis, and implementation activities and management.
Objectives and Responsibilities of the IT Lead:
- Planning, Evaluation, Selection, Design, Development/Implementation, Recovery and Maintenance/Support of hospital applications.
- Documentation of each of the above phases, (i.e. SDLC, Work Plans, Policies and Procedures).
- Assisting with Issue Identification and Resolution.
- Ensures IT projects are within scope, budget, objectives, schedules, and resource commitments.
- Coordinates vendor activities for functional and technical support of applications, interfaces and equipment as needed for the department.
- Supervises staff and ensures they modify/add the appropriate documentation based on changes in application design or new technology/functionality.
- Maintains a knowledge and understanding of the changing trends in the industry and applies technology and recommends changes as appropriate.
- Recruits, selects, trains, develops, motivates, coaches and evaluates staff.
- Creates local and implements corporate Policies and Procedures to support processes and cybersecurity requirements. Is responsible for IT deliverables relating to SOX, audit, risk assessments and other security needs.
- Develops and monitors appropriate security procedures to safe guard systems from unauthorized users and damage to data.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with users, management, and staff to promote an open line of communication.
- Communicates appropriate information including status, schedule variances, and outstanding issues.
- Effectively prioritizes personal and team assignments, following through on planned assignment within assigned timeframes.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists with department strategic planning and budgeting including the identification of information systems and technologies to improve the organization’s productivity and reduce costs. This includes license acquisition/maintenance, proposal assistance, cost/benefit analysis, and creating other supporting materials to support both.
- Proficient at developing improvements in work methods.
- Effective in cost control and resource utilization.

- Demonstrates a willingness to accept extra assignments.
- Identifies potential threats and responds to reported security violations to determine causes, possible solutions and remediation required to ensure data security.
- Informs leadership of conditions and operational security exceptions, their impact and pertinent factors influencing them.
- Provides guidelines and assists in the identification, development, implementation and maintenance of local and corporate security policies and procedures in coordination with management.
- Performs periodic security risk assessments/testing (i.e. vulnerability and penetration testing) and conducts related ongoing compliance monitoring activities in coordination with Security Consultants, corporate IT and Surgery Partners’ other compliance and operational assessment functions.
- Ensures compliance with security practices and consistent application and reports failure to comply with security policies as applicable.
- Initiates, facilitates, and promotes activities to foster information security awareness throughout the organization.
- With assistance from Security Consultants and corporate IT, serves as information security consultant to all local departments/entities.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree or an equivalent level of practical experience is required.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of working experience in a management-level IT position within a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment. The candidate must demonstrate successful experience in executing IT services solutioning. Vendor management experience is also required.
The candidate will demonstrate project management-based experience and leadership over concurrent initiatives, with a proven track record of creative solution design, engineering, and coordination of delivery.
Communication Skills: Candidate must have strong communication skills both in written and verbal form. This is especially so for this leadership position where he/she will be required to convey succinct summaries to business leadership as well as detailed instructions to effectively execute processes and tasks by the IT department.
Interpersonal Skills: The candidate will be empathetic to customer requirements while demonstrating the ability to be a pro-active advocate to partner and drive successful implementations, even when up against tight timelines and other constraints.
Leadership/People Skills: The candidate must demonstrate leadership and mentoring skills, having an ability to influence a cross-functional group towards a unified direction. The ability to build relationships and trust with others is a requirement, as this leader will serve as a change agent toward building and maturing a structured delivery framework.
