Data Analyst - HL7/FHIR Expert
Location: Albany – Hybrid – The expectation is on-site at client office (99 Washington Ave, Albany) once every two weeks.
Job Duties:
- Develop and maintain reports for internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Work with team members to analyze and collect data.
- Perform data quality verification checks to ensure the accuracy of reports and data.
- Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
- Managed the data flow and analysis documentation for incoming data.
- Collaborate with team members to solve complex problems using data.
- Develop queries using Structured Query Language (SQL), as needed, to mine data from the Medicaid Data Warehouse (MDW).
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive experience working with and analyzing data, conforming to HL7/FHIR and USCDI standards.
- Deep knowledge and/or experience with healthcare interoperability, HL7 data exchange standards, CDS Hooks, SMART on FHIR, & APIs
- Extensive experience writing ad-hoc advanced queries in SQL or similar coding language.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, with advanced Excel skills.
- Strong business analytic and professional communication skills.
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with translating complex analytic ideas into actionable insights for varied levels of audience.
- Ability to develop relationships with stakeholders and understand their needs through excellent listening and effective written and verbal communication.
- Team player with ability to be comfortable with the unknowns.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with social care data and terminology used by the Gravity Project.
- Experience working with the Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY).
- Understanding of data management concepts, and associated tools and techniques.
- Experience working with and managing large, complex data sets.
- Use and analysis of data to inform decision making.
- Ability to performing data quality analysis to identify risks and opportunities in data quality.
- Familiarity/knowledge around use of health informatics or Medicaid/Medicare data to improve healthcare outcomes.
- Ability to work in a remote capacity, as well as in a client office setting as needed.
- Experience in healthcare or a related field.
- Experience using Python to perform data analysis tasks.
- Experience developing reports and dashboards in a business intelligence (BI) tool (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Education and Experience:
- A masters degree in data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years of related experience.
- An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.
