Job Description:
West Nottingham Academy is seeking a Full-Time Maryland Certified Teacher for a Learning Resource position. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with learning differences and will be responsible for providing one-on-one instructional support to two students: one full-time and one part-time. This position will focus on various subject areas, including reading, writing, mathematics, study skills, and social skills. The teacher will report directly to the Director of the Chesapeake Learning Center and will play a critical role in facilitating further developing student engagement and fostering academic growth with these students. This role requires patience, empathy, dedication to individualized student support, and expertise in areas of student resource accommodations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one instructional support in reading, writing, mathematics, study skills, and social skills for both a full-time and part-time student, adapting instruction to meet their individual needs.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve study habits, time management, and organizational skills.
- Support students in their social and emotional development, helping to build their confidence and interpersonal skills.
- Collaborate with the Director of the Chesapeake Learning Center to track student progress and adjust learning strategies as necessary.
- Maintain regular communication with parents or guardians regarding each student's progress, challenges, and successes.
- Implement individualized learning plans (ILPs) and ensure alignment with the academy's educational goals.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and learning differences to enhance student outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Maryland certification as an Exceptional Children Teacher required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field; Master’s degree or additional certification in Special Education or Learning Differences preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with students with learning differences, such as ADHD, dyslexia, or other cognitive challenges.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
