SVC specializes in both marine and land use solutions; site planning, project design, project coordination, regulatory permitting, and project management; marine, wetland, and stream ecology; habitat restoration; wetland, stream, tree, and eelgrass delineations and assessments; benthic surveys; underwater and terrestrial-monitoring programs, mitigation planning, landscape architecture, and arborist services.
Soundview Consultants has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Staff Arborist/Forester/Scientist to join our growing team! Here at SVC, we give you the flexibility to take care of yourself. We offer a hybrid work environment for team members working both from our offices and remote opportunities to focus on results and take time off when needed. The candidate will have a home office of Gig Harbor, Washington. Some schedule options may look like: 5×8’s 4x 10’s or 4x 9’s with a remote half day on Fridays. And your weekends are always YOURS!
Skills and Experience
- B.S. in Arboriculture, Environmental Sciences, Planning, or other applicable degree
- Preferred: ISA certified arborist or progress towards
- Preferred: Tree Risk Assessment Qualified or progress toward
- Preferred: tree canopy assessment and analysis experience
- Minimum of 2+ years of professional experience in arboriculture consulting
- Pacific Northwest tree identification
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Read, write, and speak English at an expert level.
- Provide dedicated support to the company’s ISA certified arborist.
- Perform fieldwork including individual tree assessments and large-scale tree inventories alongside our ISA certified arborist
- Utilize Microsoft Excel to enter and analyze field data including diameter at breast height, dripline, critical root zone, and tree health data with careful attention to detail
- Prepare first drafts of tree assessment and other arborist reports following instruction and exhibiting excellent scientific writing
- Embed “red line” edits from team into draft reports demonstrating attention to detail and understanding of context
- Research local regulatory code, conduct background research, and share findings demonstrating analysis abilities
- Provide report drafting and fieldwork support for other departments (wetland, habitat, and shoreline projects) depending on business needs.
