Are you passionate about veterinary medicine and animal care? Our client is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Health Care Technician to support laboratory animal populations under the supervision of an Animal Resources Veterinarian or Senior Animal Health Technologist.
In this dynamic role, you'll:
- Assist in preventive medicine programs, including physical exams, vaccinations, disease control, and dental prophylaxis
- Support environmental enrichment programs for all species
- Help maintain an aseptic surgical suite, providing pre-, peri-, and post-operative care, including anesthesia, pain management, and wound care
- Participate in health rounds for large and small animals, reporting abnormalities to the veterinary team
- Collect specimens and submit samples for diagnostic analysis
- Administer basic veterinary medical treatments under supervision
- Ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations and maintain accurate records
What We're Looking For:
- Ability to triage clinical cases, identify abnormal presentations, and calculate/administer medications
- Proficiency in veterinary diagnostic equipment and medical record keeping
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of animal welfare regulations
- Proficiency with MS applications and medical terminology
Education & Experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Animal Health Technology (or equivalent program)
- Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience with veterinary procedures
- AALAS certification is a plus!
This role requires flexibility, including some weekend, holiday, and off-hour work.
