Job Purpose
The Electronic Systems Architect designs, develops, and deploys integrated hardware, software, and total electronic system solutions for the organization. This position provides significant technical leadership in the organization through technical team leadership, leading design decisions on major programs, providing recommendations and implementation details about system modules including software, hardware technologies, and deployment requirements. The Electronic Systems Architect has the ability to independently implement or provide technical leadership to any portion of the design process
Key Responsibilities
- Develop system architectures to deploy complex electronic systems
- Support all phases of program execution, but primarily invest time in the program design and implementation phases
- Perform comparative analysis to similar systems, assessing system strengths and weaknesses
- Research system theory and design concepts and implementation methods to help in determining system functionality, state of the art, and potential weaknesses
- Take ownership of moderate team development while mentoring others
- Author technical reports and presentations for projects of high complexity
- Compile report input from other researchers and prepare final report deliverables
- Serve as the primary author of pertinent white papers and competitive proposals
- Provide technical vision to sponsors
Additional Responsibilities
- Manage Compass Call EW mission data and missionware updates to meet operational requirements
- Source EW capabilities for Compass Call Software Defined Radio (SDR) and other mission systems to meet operational requirements
- Interface and synchronize with Compass Call military leadership, aircrew, intelligence, program office, prime contractor, test organizations, and joint partner stakeholders to enable rapid software update capabilities
- Apply configuration management techniques to operational mission data / missionware software
- Develop requirements for technical solutions to enable secure and rapid electronic software distribution for the Compass Call fleet
- Coordinate information assurance, cybersecurity, airworthiness, and modification process requirements for rapid Compass Call software fielding
- Perform job duties while embedded in a United States Air Force (USAF) operational unit, 55th Electronic Combat Group (ECG), Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (DMAFB), Tucson, AZ
- Interface with Compass Call aircrew and intelligence personnel to track and status operational requirements
- Implement open architecture and instrumentation hardware into Guard and Reserve Aircraft
- Plan, provision, execute, analyze, and report on a variety of test programs from bench level to on-aircraft open-air range testing
- Support sponsor programmatic reviews, planning meetings, concept development efforts, and technical interchange meetings
- Execute trade studies to evaluate different open architecture designs, algorithms and applications and address their effect on system functions and capabilities
Required Minimum Qualifications
- EW experience that includes either operations, test, or maintenance of EW mission systems
- Proficiency related to the development and publication of technical reports
- Strong analytical and briefing skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI Clearance
- Experience or expertise in one or more of the following: (1) EW operations (2) EW test and evaluation, (3) Military Planning (4) Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), (5) Tactical datalinks and/or military communications protocols
- USAF/USN/USMC/USA Electromagnetic Warfare/SIGINT platform aircrew (EC-130H, RC-135S/U/V/W, EA-6B, EA-18G, RC-12, or other related platform)
- Department of Defense/U.S. Military Service/National Intelligence Community experience
- Graduate of Senior level service and advanced DOD schools (USAF Weapons School, Test Pilot School, Air Command and Staff College, Air War College, OR other DOD service equivalent school)

- 9 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Military Operational Science, Intelligence Studies, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field
- 7 years of related experience with a Masters’ degree in Military Operational Science, Intelligence Studies, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field
- 4 years of related experience with a Ph.D. in Military Operational Science, Intelligence Studies, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field
