JOB DESCRIPTION
Become a Coordinator in Exceptional Student Services with Great Hearts Academies, a non-profit, tuition-free charter network of schools. The network seeks to fill several remaining Coordinator openings across the Phoenix metro area for the 2024-2025 school year!
Positions Available:
- Goodyear (Upper School opening)
- East Valley (Upper and Lower School openings)
- Maryvale (Upper and Lower School openings)
- Phoenix, AZ (Upper School)
The Exceptional Student Services (Special Education) Coordinator will:
- Plan and provide specially designed instruction to students receiving special education and related services.
- Collaborate with related service providers and general education staff in the implementation of accommodations and modifications
- Draft and maintain IEPs, Prior Written Notices, and potentially evaluation paperwork, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Plan and facilitate meetings throughout the special education process
- Communicate and collaborate with parents, staff, and administrative staff regarding student planning and progress.
- Manage the transition of new enrollees eligible for special education and related services.

Great Hearts Academies is a growing network of 43 public, open-enrollment, tuition-free schools in San Antonio (TX), Dallas/Ft. Worth (TX), Phoenix (AZ), and (opening in fall 2023) Baton Rouge (LA). Qualifications:
- Candidates must be proficient in the use of technology.
- Great Hearts teachers must also demonstrate a commitment to and love for the liberal arts.
Education/Certification:
- Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree
- Valid Arizona certification in Special Education (mild to moderate, cross-categorical, learning disability, or intern/alternative)
- A current Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.
Travel required: May need to travel locally to the various academies within the Phoenix metro area.
