Job Summary:
- The Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Engineer will provide expertise in technical operations of the plant.
- Responsible for shop floor systems, manufacturing applications, machine integration with MES, printers and other manufacturing hardware.
- Provides technical support to troubleshoot equipment issues through structured problem-solving processes.
- Responsible for implementation of production line systems and improvement of existing system by modifying and/or updating MES process flow.
Essential Functions:
- Create reports/dashboards from data stored in various production database. Work with Process Engineers, Production departments, IT and Maintenance to evaluate MES requirements for production line improvements and modifications.
- Provide production support for MES functions including QAD interfaces, PLC interfaces, Electrical Test interfaces, MES master data maintenance & process modeling, MES functionality (transactions and user interfaces) and Database / reporting functions.
- Develop, modify or debug MES logic and related IT Applications to enhance equipment interface and operation of the MES.
- Diagnose and help resolve causes of process and communication malfunctions on all equipment.
- Author and execute software validation activities with proper oversight to support and maintain the MES.
- Provide training to technician on the operation and diagnostics of the machine process and applications.
- Support manufacturing metrics (Safety, Engineering Change, OEE, Scrap, Waste)
- Configure system settings and options, plans and executes integration acceptance testing with required documentation
- Perform system configuration changes, monitor systems and correct errors.
- Train others on systems, software, equipment and processes.
- Research and implement cost effective upgrades to the equipment and manufacturing applications.
- Modify and create SQL queries and stored procedures to create reports and functions.
- Support web applications and solutions. Coordinate IT/MES activities with internal and external departments for zero downtime goals.
Requirements:
- 3-5 Minimum Years of Experience with MES such as Matrix, Solidat, MPDV Hydra, GE Proficy, Pyramid, or other MES.
- 1-3 Minimum Years of Experience within the automotive industry
- Understanding of programming languages and structured database (SQL/PostGRE) management.
- Experience in a fast pace broadcast delivery (JIT/JIS) environment so equipment and tooling uptime is essential
- Experience with Microsoft SQL is required
- Experience in Allen Bradley ControlLogx (PLC), communications interface and ladder-logic
Preferred Qualifications:Ability to work well with hourly and maintenance employees and have a good working relationship with other departments within the plant.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing broadcast and sequencing system and processes
- Experience in programming language such as VB.NET, C#, C++
Education:Bachelor's Level Degree
