The Senior Buyer – Metals Commodity will play a pivotal role, focusing on developing and executing the metals commodity strategy. This role involves managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of metals required for the manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in procurement within a tier-1 automotive supplier environment, particularly in metals or raw materials, and a strong understanding of market dynamics and supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commodity Strategy Development: Lead the development and execution of the metals commodity roadmap, aligning with the company’s overall procurement and supply chain strategy.
- Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers, ensuring they meet the company’s quality, cost, and delivery requirements. Foster strong relationships to drive performance improvements.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, including pricing, terms, and conditions, to secure the best value for the company. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Market Analysis: Monitor and analyze market trends, pricing, and supply conditions. Provide insights and recommendations to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
- Cost Management: Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives, including value engineering and alternative sourcing strategies, while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure the successful integration of sourced metals into the production process.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with supply chain disruptions, including geopolitical, economic, and environmental factors.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, systems, and practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in procurement, with automotive OEM or supplier experience required
- Metals Commodity experience is highly preferred, raw materials will work as well.
