Job Description: Packaging Engineer - Thousand Oaks, CA
Location: Thousand Oaks, CA (Onsite Required)
Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated Packaging Engineer to join our engineering lab team in Thousand Oaks, CA. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Packaging or a related field, and while new graduates with 0 to 3 years of general packaging/engineering experience are welcome, candidates with 2 years of practical packaging engineering experience outside of academia will be highly preferred. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Illustrator, or similar software for creating and modifying engineering drawings is a valuable asset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Packaging Material Evaluation: Support the testing and evaluation of primary and secondary packaging materials, including recommending and selecting suitable materials.
- Material Testing: Apply knowledge of material testing standards and equipment to perform technical evaluations and write test protocols, ensuring accurate reports to justify material and component choices.
- Technical Documentation: Write technical specifications, create engineering drawings, and develop artwork templates using AutoCAD, Illustrator, or similar software.
- Packaging Validation: Assist in line trials and packaging validation activities for the introduction of new or modified components and processes.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with multi-functional teams, including Quality, Device Engineering, Supply Chain, Artwork, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams, on pre-commercial and commercial projects.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging or related field, or Associate degree with 4 years of experience, or High school diploma/GED with 6 years of experience.
Preferred Skills:
- 2 years of practical Packaging Engineering experience outside of academia.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Illustrator, or similar software for engineering drawings.
