A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Litigation Legal Secretary with strong expertise in e-filing and over 5 years of substantive experience in bankruptcy cases (Chapters 7 & 11). The ideal candidate will provide high-level secretarial and clerical support to attorneys, ensuring excellence in client relations and overall satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bankruptcy Filings: Handle the filing of Motions for Relief, Proofs of Claim, and Notices related to creditor’s rights in bankruptcy. Ensure timely updates and calendaring via internal case management systems, coordinating with the team to meet all deadlines.
- Document Management: Draft, revise, and finalize various legal documents including pleadings, memoranda, and correspondence. Perform redline comparisons and manage conflicts checks, as well as the opening of new client matters.
- Discovery & Trial Support: Draft and serve discovery documents, assist in deposition preparations, and provide comprehensive support during trial preparations, including calendaring and organizing relevant materials.
- Administrative Tasks: Process invoices, prepare expense reports, arrange travel, and manage both physical and electronic files in accordance with firm policies. Handle state, civil, complex federal, and appellate filings, both manually and electronically.
- Client & Attorney Support: Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, and other team members. Maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Ongoing Development: Attend training sessions as required, support peers, and stay updated on court rules and electronic filing systems.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in a litigation role within a law firm, with a focus on bankruptcy litigation.
- Extensive knowledge of Federal and State court e-filing systems and court rules.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook) and legal time entry software.
- Advanced proficiency in document management systems such as NetDocs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a minimum typing speed of 70 wpm.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, multi-task, and adapt to a frequently changing environment.
- Team-oriented, proactive, and highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
