Our client is seeking a Legal Contract Analyst. This role will report into the Legal department and be primarily responsible for assisting the trading desk in the drafting and negotiating of ISDAs and other trade related documentation. This position will also be primarily responsible for the negotiation of various master, services, license, and subscription agreements related to commodities trading.
Responsibilities:
- Drafting and negotiation of trading documentation for financially- and physically-settled derivative transactions across multiple products (primarily Power, RECs)
- Negotiation and structuring of commodity-linked financing transactions
- Understand link between trades and credit documentation (e.g. – lien-based ISDAs)
- Provide assistance to the Treasury team in the negotiation and documentation of FX based ISDAs
- Drafting and negotiating subscription services and software services agreements related to trading commodities
- Interfacing with Compliance, Credit and Treasury team
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or business
- Juris Doctorate is a plus
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Legal or Trading Documentation role (including within a Credit, Risk or Treasury function) or attorney/paralegal experience within a law firm
- Drafting and negotiating trading documentation
- Hedging transactions
- Negotiation of ISDAs and confirmations relating to swaps on natural gas and power products including Master Agreements, Schedules, Credit Support Annexes and other physical trading annexes for commodities in particular electrical power)
- Drafting and negotiating subscription services and software services agreements related to trading commodities
- Proven excellent organizational and prioritization skills and attention to detail, especially under pressure
- Proven ability to negotiate and review detailed legal documents with an eye for detail and accuracy, particularly around documentation terms
- Ability to ensure consistency across documentation and know when to escalate issues
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Enthusiasm and interest in development of documentation skills and using such skills for the completion of negotiation process
- Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills and develop full job ownership.
- Strong commercial acumen with a keen interest in derivatives, Commodities, repo, securities lending markets and products and/or prime brokerage products and services
- Ability to interact with and influence business stakeholders and clients in order to negotiate, build consensus, control risks and improve operational efficiency
- Proficient in IT and able to adapt to various databases/systems
