Position Title: Test Engineer
Location: Chattanooga, TN
Duration: 24 Month Contract
Start Date: November 1st, 2024
Pay Rate: $40-45/Hour
Overview: A client in the greater Chattanooga area is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to commission pre-series vehicles. This role involves identifying and resolving errors to ensure the buildability and timely delivery of vehicles. The specialist will collaborate with UPS and the Pilot Hall Assembly team to ensure pre-series vehicles achieve CP8 on time. Responsibilities include documenting rework time per vehicle, performing root cause analysis through data evaluation and hands-on techniques, and summarizing results for management. The specialist will lead all escalation meetings and present findings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze measurement reports, CAD data, drawings, and technical descriptions for buildability issues.
- Distribute reports based on project status.
- Conduct sample production trials to detect defects and confirm product changes.
- Provide product rework instructions and one-time training lessons.
- Spend approximately 80% of time on product-related tasks and 20% on computer-related tasks.
- Collaborate with UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and Pilot Hall Assembly.
- Handle all escalations and act as the final stamp of approval, working with individuals in Germany and suppliers.
Requirements:
- Background in automotive manufacturing, or similar field.
- Experience with building/testing wire harnesses and E-Basket in the automotive industry.
- Experience with shared network communication and electronic networks/systems (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
- Solid change management experience.
- Experience leading escalation meetings.
- Strong presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of tools such as VW ODIS, IDEX, Vector, CP Builder, CANape or CANoe, DiaRa, or similar.
- Certification to work on EV (HV certificate L2).
- Experience with VW MQB or MEB platforms
