An insurance defense law firm in Houston, TX is seeking an Associate to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in insurance defense litigation and an extensive background in providing effective legal representation with various cases. This opportunity will consist of analyzing legal issues, conducting research, representing clients in court, and negotiating settlements, all while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct.
Responsibilities:
- Stay updated on changes in laws, regulations, and legal precedents through ongoing education to maintain expertise in the field.
- Meet with clients to understand their legal needs, discuss case strategies, and provide regular updates on case progress.
- Present arguments, examine and cross-examine witnesses, and advocate for clients' interests effectively.
- Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, motions, contracts, and settlement agreements to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws.
- Provide expert legal advice and counsel to clients on insurance defense matters, including policy interpretation, liability issues, and claims disputes.
- Conduct thorough research on legal issues, including statutes, regulations, case law, and precedents, to support case strategies and provide accurate advice.
- Uphold high ethical standards, maintain client confidentiality, and adhere to professional codes of conduct at all times.
- Engage in settlement negotiations with opposing parties to achieve favorable resolutions outside of court when possible.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, including trials, hearings, and motions.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience in insurance defense.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle a variety of legal challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret complex legal instructions and documentation.
