This position is located in Solon/Twinsburg, Ohio, part of the Cleveland Metropolitan area. You will be required to be physically onsite during standard business hours, and you may be required for after hours work. This is not a remote position.
Position Summary
As a Senior Desktop Support Engineer, you will be responsible for the onsite support and maintenance of a managed services client in the financial services industry. You will be the first tier of onsite support, and will be in charge of prioritizing requests, troubleshooting problems, escalating to remote staff, and working on challenging issues alongside senior staff members.
An ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and hands-on approach to customer interaction and time management. Prior experience with IT support is required. You will be required to occasionally work off-hours for planned maintenance or unplanned emergencies.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills
- Administration and troubleshooting experience with Windows and/or Linux environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desired Knowledge and Experience
- A degree in IT, computer science or a related field
- One to three years of experience within an MSP, VAR, ISP, NOC, or enterprise helpdesk environment
- Experience administering virtualized and VDI environments (VMware, Parallels RAS)
- Experience administering Active Directory
- Experience creating and maintaining process and procedure documentation
- Proficiency with Windows and Linux
- Experience deploying and administering phone and videoconferencing systems
- Experience following security policies and procedures, specifically for regulatory or security audit compliance (PCI, SOC)
- Experience with basic L2/L3 networking, firewall, switch, and proxy management
- Comfortable and skilled with the command line on any platform
- Scripting experience in any language
