Pay Rate - $30.00 - $35.00/hr (Depending on Experience)
The Utility communications team at one of our largest Fortune 500 Energy and Utilities clients is looking to hire a Junior Telecommunication Engineer. As a Junior Telecommunication Engineer, you will support the fiber operations team and our client as they manage the energy grid. This individual will also support implementing and maintaining the infrastructure surrounding fiber optics across the energy grid.
Qualifications
- Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent bachelor's degree
- 0-1 year of work or internship experience in an engineering (Network, Systems, Electrical) focused roles
- Excellent analytical, conceptual, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge or experience working with Power BI and creating dashboards
- Must be able to travel to various office locations and substation locations in the Greater Chicago area.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining infrastructure surrounding fiber through energy grid
- Assisting senior-level team members to support onsite job duties surrounding the Nokia Box
- Execute Bench Testing, IP Access configurations, and change management for lower-impact changes
- Handle transition of work to support technical operations.
- Participate in routing, switching, and wireless implementation across multiple locations in the Greater Chicago area
- Support the administration and troubleshooting of network-related problems for Cisco, Fiber, and Nokia Systems
- Visit field sites for any in-person triage or troubleshooting efforts.
- Execute rundowns of field sites with applicable vendors when necessary
