Product Development Technologist
Supports existing and new business initiatives to deliver on the company’s growth plan.
This role’s primary responsibility is leading the end-to-end commercialization process and support launching new manufacturing lines successfully and effectively. Additional responsibilities include formula and ingredient rationalization. To be effective in this position, cross-functional coordination and working closely with FSQA, R&D, Sales, Operations, Maintenance/Engineering, Supply Chain and Finance. This position reports to the Sr. Manager of FSQA.
Job Responsibilities
Ensure that all commercialization meets food safety and quality parameters.
Ensure all regulatory and internal policies are followed, including labeling.
Manage the commercialization of new manufacturing lines launch and equipment installations, where applicable
Lead the Stage-Gate process for all assigned projects; lead teams through critical checkpoints, including analysis and prioritization of risks and opportunities.
Develop and maintain detailed records of testing, formulations and outcomes of products and ingredients.
Operate and upkeep lab / kitchen and plant equipment as required.
Requirement to work at times in cold or hot, wet, noisy environments.
Flexibility to participate in occasional off-shift testing and commercialization.
Function as liaison for internal customers (Customer Service, Operations, R&D, FSQA, Sales Maintenance/Engineering) for day-to-day product activities and questions.
Participates in internal and customer complaint investigation and supports all CI initiatives.
Identify and escalate potential risks to timelines/success of commercialization and formulation rationalization efforts.
Utilization of required ERP systems to facilitate the processes and coordinate with all other functions
Participates in regulatory, customer and third-party audits, assuring documentation compliance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, Food Technology, or related field
3+ years of relevant experience working in a food manufacturing plant or food CPG company (Product Development, FSQA, Operations, R&D)
Preferred experience with new product commercialization
Preferred experience with new manufacturing line launches or equipment installations a plus.
