General Responsibilities:
As part of our growing Traffic Engineering department, the director will be responsible for business development, RFPs review and proposal submission, project management, staff training, contracts management and clients’ relations.
· Experience with Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) operations and projects is desirable.
· Overall knowledge of traffic modeling, signal design, traffic control plans and studies are a must.
· Interface directly with clients for project implementation and representation at meetings.
· Lead and manage traffic engineers.
· Must be able to grow the department and obtain contracts from NJDOT, NJ Transit, PANYNJ, NYC DOT and NYS DOT and other Transportation Planning Authorities.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical or systems engineering
· Minimum 8 - 10+ years of progressive relevant experience
· Professional Engineering license in New York and/or New Jersey
· Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification preferred
· Working knowledge of traffic software Synchro/Sim Traffic, Vissim, Guide sign, plus AutoCAD/Microstation
· Experience with construction related projects a plus
· Successful business development experience
· Working relationship with Department of Transportation is desirable
· Experience working with state or municipal agencies
· Excellent leadership and communication skills
