POSITION SUMMARY:
Professional Registered Nurse - Surgery
The Professional Registered Nurse in Surgery works under the direction of the Director of Surgical Services, the OR Unit Manager, the RN in Charge, and/or the Nursing Supervisor. This role involves functioning as a circulating nurse with responsibilities spanning pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases, ensuring patient safety and delivering high-quality care. Duties include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in alignment with AORN Standards, Recommended Practices, and Guidelines.
Scrub Nurse
The primary duties of the Scrub Nurse involve setting up and maintaining a sterile field for patients and assisting the surgeon, circulating nurse, and other surgical team members as needed. The Scrub Nurse must be proficient in the operation and care of all OR equipment and instruments. All tasks will be performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines of the surgery department and Trinity Hospital. New graduates will be enrolled in Trinity's Nurse Residency Program and are expected to graduate from it.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current or temporary RN license in ND or compact RN licensure.
- CNOR certification is preferred but not required for the RN Circulator role.
- BLS certification required within the orientation period.
- RN program completion as evidenced by licensure.
- Official diploma or transcript from the school/university where the degree was received.
- Past experience is preferred but not required: past work experience in a similar role.
