J ob Summary - This position is responsible for acquiring raw materials, composing of animal specific feed tailored to meet the diverse needs of turkeys, ultimately reaching the farms, due to the nature of the business, providing a variety of feed is essential in satisfying animal demands at various stages of their lifecycle.
Constant communications between farms, service persons, and our facilities are crucial in effective assuring our supplies are in line with our projected demand.
Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities
Daily testing and record keeping of feed-related ingredients and finished feed products for both NC feed mills, and Butterball LLC.
Preparation of chemical solutions
General laboratory housekeeping
Operation of basic laboratory equipment used in the testing procedures for feeds and/or ingredients (balances, scales, ovens, NIR instruments, moisture meters, protein analyzers, fat extractors, water baths, centrifuges, stir plates, hot plates, pH meters, burets, Elisa readers, pipettes, mortar and pestle, micropipettes, pellet durability tumbler, particle size sieves, etc.)
Sample preparation, testing of ingredients and feeds, computation of results from testing procedures.
Shipment of samples to other laboratories for external testing
Comprehension and use of all safety equipment used to properly conduct testing, data entry, summary report generation.
Employee must comply with OSHA, and Butterball Rules and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
Follow all company regulations pertaining to bio security, animal welfare and safety. (No Birds or Swine at their home on any capacity
All other duties assigned by supervisor/management.

Excellent communications skills

Basic mathematical skills
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English
Chemical Safety Training preferred
Education & Experience:
Currently enroll or working towards associate degree in Animal Science field Microbiology, Poultry Science, Animal Science or related degree program or related work experience
Must have a High School Diploma
A valid North Carolina Driver's License and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record preferred, reliable transportation.
