Mission of the Role (What you will be doing)
The Operations Manager will plan, direct and coordinate the location’s business activities and develop, lead, and implement effective strategies and processes to achieve efficiencies and operational excellence. The Operations Manager will set and foster a clear mission and deploy best practice strategies to ensure that office and plant operations work together effectively providing an outstanding customer experience, ensure sustainability, and meet business objectives.
Key Duties & Accountabilities (Primary responsibilities & quantifiable measurements)
- Support the achievement of revenue, GP and EBITDA targets
- Oversee daily business operations and evaluate performance and productivity on a regular and ongoing basis
- Manage receiving of inventory into the warehouse
- Manage the tracking of drivers on routes and proactively adjust routes to meet customer needs
- Review short item list from night before to be picked, shipped, and rescheduled on second run trucks
- Coordinate price quotes and scheduling of pickups with 3PL.
- Work with daytime warehouse employees for efficiency in putting inventory away to keep warehouse clean and orderly.
- Work with customer service for NE region locations for customer deliveries, etc.
- Coordinate with truck PM’s, repairs, replacement
- Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives and procedures, conferring with executive leadership and staff as appropriate
- Identify, develop, and lead successful, thorough implementation of plans to execute on growth opportunities and initiatives
- Create and collaborate to identify and implement practices to improve upon potential gaps for goal achievement
- Maintain an active presence with the appropriate customers and suppliers
- Identify staffing needs, and lead effective hiring and practices to ensure a team of aces
- Coach, champion employee development, and engagement, and delegate responsibilities appropriately to optimize management and team capabilities
- Spearhead strategies to steer the location’s future in a positive direction
- Drive operating capabilities to maximize customer retention, and company goals
- Control location costs, and introduce tactical initiatives to drive efficiencies
- Assess and implement improved processes and new technologies, and collaborate with management and team regarding the implementation of these improvements
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of product in the warehouse
Educational/Training Requirements/Experience (What your background should look like)
- Degree in Business Management, Business Administration or proven working experience of a minimum of 5 years leading and managing teams
- Excellent knowledge of management methods and techniques
- Experience working in the Packaging industry or similar industry preferred
- Experience working in a Union environment
