Onshore Substation Construction Manager
Our client was the first energy company to transition to clean energy from fossil fuels. Today, they operate more offshore wind energy projects than any other company in the world and they are committed to being the first energy company to reach net-zero carbon emissions.
Their current project will provide 704 MWs of clean, affordable offshore wind power. This project is in search of an Onshore Substation Construction Manager to join the team.
Project - Onshore Substation
Location of Onshore Substation - Rhode Island
Duration of Engagement - Minimum till end of December 2025, with six (6) month ext option
Working Hours - 50 hour per week, flexibility for work on weekends
Start Date - ASAP
Scope of Work & Deliverables
- Client’s Owner’s Representative at the onshore substation construction site, where you will report directly to Client’s Senior Project Manager
- Participate in relevant meetings at site or back office in relation to Scope of Work deliverables
- Close follow up on ensuring compliance with agreed construction site progress, contractual payment & business critical milestones, quality and safety matters
- Where applicable recommend towards Owner and JV-partner implementation of contingencies, mitigations and programs for improving progress, quality, safety and costs
- Establish close collaboration with JV-partner and act as liaison person between JV-partner and other Client interfaces and personnel at site (e.g. Commissioning, Onshore Export Cable etc.) for ensuring a good transfer of onshore substation asset to Owner and Operation
- Scrutiny of JV-partners Quality Management Plan and Inspection & Test Plans for civil construction- and mechanical installation activities, preservation, conditioning and storage of goods/equipment as per contractual requirements and Scope of Work
- Scrutiny of JV-partners HSE Management plan, including how chain responsibility and audit will be ensured towards JV-partner (internal) and towards his Contractors
Requirements & Qualifications
- Have a MSc/BSc in Civil Engineering/Construction management or solid track record in construction management
- Preferable more than 20 years of documented experience within construction management and HSE leadership of onshore activities in large-scale (onshore substation) construction projects
- Shall understand and deliver the scope from an Owner’s Team perspective, i.e. have a strategic focus, business case impact understanding, foresee and mitigate potential bottlenecks or setbacks before they occur, being a strong support to JV-partner
- Possess comprehensive leadership and management skills for impactful communication with Contractor and Stakeholders
- Have a strong personal drive and thrive working in a senior project management role coordinating complex civil activities and managing associated tasks in a professional manner
- Are resilient, persistent, and thrive in an international environment, with the ability to create good relationships with your stakeholders
