Job Description: We are seeking a full-time Civil Project Estimator specializing in Wet Utilities. The ideal candidate will possess experience in estimating costs for wet utility construction projects and demonstrate a strong understanding of project management principles.
Responsibilities:
- Search out jobs to bid, understand bid documents, and read plans and drawings.
- Attend pre-bid and job meetings.
- Create bid scopes, including required labor, materials, and equipment within project timeframes.
- Schedule manpower and equipment.
- Identify job conflicts and submit RFIs and/or CPs.
- Maintain relationships with vendors, agencies, and employees.
- Perform plan take-offs.
- Develop cost estimates and project timelines.
- Review and analyze subcontractor bids for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and submit detailed, accurate, and competitive bid proposals.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure cost estimates align with project budgets.
- Assist in value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
- Monitor and adjust estimates based on project changes and unforeseen conditions.
- Track and analyze project costs and budgets to ensure financial efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Wet Utilities.
- Hands-on field experience in underground utilities – sewer, water, storm drains, basins, and fire systems.
- Knowledge of dry utilities (gas).
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and/or familiarity with other relevant programs.
- Knowledge of civil and public works.
- Clean driving record and a valid CA driver’s license.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Availability to work Monday through Friday.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field or minimum of 5 years experience.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, or similar).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal construction regulations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience in managing construction project budgets and timelines.
- Ability to interpret and apply engineering principles and practices.
