Roper, Townsend & Sutphen, P.A. is an established, expanding Orlando civil litigation defense law firm seeking a motivated, ambitious and career-oriented litigator with a minimum of five years’ experience in federal civil rights and employment litigation. The firm has a diverse litigation practice focused upon the representation of private entities and governmental clients, including national insurers and prominent self-insured companies, in state and federal court.
Candidates must be barred in Florida with a strong understanding of federal, state, civil rights and employment law. Prior experience as a federal law clerk is highly desirable, but not required. Candidates must possess:
· Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to effectively advocate, analyze, express ideas, present facts and advance legal arguments clearly and persuasively
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain diligence in communicating and advising clients
· Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and accomplish tasks in a timely and efficient manner to meet strict deadlines
· A strong desire to excel and develop skills as a litigator in order to contribute to the firm’s high standards and reputation for excellence and ethics in the community
Job description:
Responsible for handling all aspects of civil litigation, under the supervision of a partner, to include preparation of pleadings, motions, responses to complaints, and other filings; participation in discovery; including attendance at depositions; investigation of allegations of violations of civil rights; conducting witness interviews; attend hearings, mediations, and trial; reporting to and communicating with clients, witnesses, and adjusters; legal research and writing; and the analysis and evaluation of cases. Specific duties and responsibilities would be assigned based upon the candidate’s level of experience and demonstrated abilities.
