Our client sells high-quality microbial enzymes to different industries in the Americas, like food, dietary supplements, industrial, diagnostics, and regenerative medicine and they are looking for a Food Scientist to join their growing team!
Location: Elgin, IL
Pay: $37/hour
Job Summary:
Conduct experimental work and develop innovative enzyme-based products to drive sales growth. Prepare scientific data for promotional materials or webinars, establish relationships with food research institutes, and design new enzyme blends for food applications. Support Technical Sales and oversee the entire development process for new blended products, ensuring adherence to GMP and SQF quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the company’s sales and profit through the department activities.
- Collaborates with customers to improve their product recipes and processes.
- Carries out experimentation to implement at least two new innovative product application developments.
- Prepares and provides scientific data to incorporate into at least one promotional material or webinar annually.
- Conducts pilot plant trials within facilities, at co-packer, customer, or outside lab facilities.
- Develops joint R&D projects with customers under guidelines and priorities developed by the President.
- Oversees laboratory and reports issues with instrumentation, equipment, and safety to supervisor.
- Oversees preventative maintenance in laboratory.
- Provides technical and analytical service to potential and existing customers to generate new business and maintain current business.
- Submits call report to the supervisor within 48 hours after visiting customer.
- Submits a monthly report to the supervisor at the end of the month.
- Responsible for Food Safety and reporting any Food Safety related issues to the direct supervisor and/or a member of the Food Safety Management Team.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Food Safety Reporting Responsibilities:
- Responsibility to report all food safety problems or concerns to the proper personnel authorized to initiate action.
Lab Skills:
Instrumental assay experience such as with GC, HPLC, and spectrophotometer preferred.
Education/Experience:
Master’s Degree in a food scientific discipline is required.
