What You Will Be Doing:
We are seeking a skilled PHP Web Developer with strong frontend skills to join our agile team. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining many of our research websites (e.g., FRED, Research homepage, FRASER, Federal Reserve History, Fed in Print).
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain high-quality web applications using PHP, JavaScript, React, Laravel Framework, and SQL.
- Write automated tests such as unit, acceptance, and integration tests to ensure quality
- Work with Docker containers and deploy to AWS using CI/CD pipelines
- Perform code reviews on peers’ code
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Troubleshoot and debug issues in web applications and provide timely resolutions
- Optimize web applications for maximum speed and scalability
- Participate in agile development methodologies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years in web application development with PHP, Laravel, Linux, SQL/NoSQL databases, JavaScript, and Docker
- Experience with frontend technologies: HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, React.js.
- Proficient in Git for code management
- Knowledgeable in OWASP and web security best practices
- Strong object-oriented design skills
- Proficient in relational databases like PostgreSQL
- Hands-on experience with AWS services and Docker
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
- Knowledgeable in RESTful APIs and web services.
- Experienced working in agile team environments.
- Experience creating 508 compliant web frontends preferred.
- Familiarity with templating engines like Twig, Laravel Blade, etc., preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
