Paralegal
We are seeking a smart, kind and driven paralegal that is meticulous and detail-oriented to join our growing team. As a Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the legal integrity and clarity of our real estate transactions and property acquisitions. You will work closely with our legal and real estate teams to research, review, and manage our development transactions and associated documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of real estate law, land purchase contacts, lease contracts, with extensive title review experience, with a keen eye for accuracy and compliance. The Paralegal will work with our legal team and due diligence coordinator on a daily basis and play a critical role in our development department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, Legal Studies, and/or a related field with a paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program.
- Minimum of 5 years direct experience as a transactional real estate paralegal.
- Thorough understanding of title insurance coverage, policies, forms and endorsements.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and meticulous record-keeping.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal documents and resolve title issues.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Extensive knowledge of real estate terminology and thorough understanding of the commercial transactional and financing process.
- Proficiency in using title search software and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Job Duties:
- Review legal contracts including ground leases, purchase agreements, CCR’s, SNDA’s and title reports, along with underlying title documents, surveys and due diligence materials for commercial transactions.
- Draft correspondence regarding transaction issues with opposing counsel, landlords and sellers.
- Prepare critical date summary timelines for distribution to internal teams to manage timelines.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis of land titles, deeds, and related legal documents.
- Prepare and review title reports, abstracts, and summaries for accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
- Assist in the negotiation and drafting of contracts related to property transactions, ensuring all title-related conditions are met.
- Stay updated on changes in real estate laws and regulations affecting title processes.
- Prepare title objections letters, responses and title policy requirements for commercial transactions.
- Assist in drafting and preparation of closing documents and escrow instructions
- Assist closing coordinator and facilitate real estate closings, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for all parties involved.
- Assist in escrow management as needed, ensuring timely and accurate handling of funds, documents, and transactions.
- Review and prepare final documents for presentation to senior management for execution.
- Coordinate and draft amendments, extensions and other legal documents for distribution and execution.
