Qualifications and requirements
Applicants should have a current state RN license or a current multistate compact license and possess an associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school.
Additional requirements include:
Current American Heart Association BLS certification or obtain within 90 days after hire date.
Current American Heart Association ACLS certification or obtain within 6 months after hire date.
Current American Heart Association PALS certification or obtain within 6 months after hire date
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision,
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Department Unit/Summary:
Monday - Friday position, with limited weekend requirements.
Limited call - one night call every other week, and one weekend call rotating through entire department (usually works out to be every 10-12 weeks).
Phase 1 recovery - recover patient for 30 minutes to one hour (depending on type of anesthesia given), then send to Phase 2 and give hand off to another nurse.
Phase 2 recovery - go over discharge paperwork with family member, give patient snack and medicine. Free to discharge if they meet requirements.
